My observations on Stranmillis College parkrun

On my first ever visit to Belfast I found that this parkrun was the closest to my accommodation. The tourist tool put it at 0.7 miles. The campus was quite easy to find, the location of the parkrun itself slightly less so, but I found a friendly marshal who was able to direct me in addition to giving me some sightseeing tips.

This parkrun features a three lap course in the grounds of, and along the roads of the Stranmillis University College. Its undulations reminded me of my own alma matter, there is one long climb that seems to take up about half of each lap along with a shorter hill towards the end of each lap. The roads are not closed to traffic during the run, and runners are advised in the briefing to keep right on the roads that are shared with cars, also interesting is that some parked cars may change the racing line around some of the corners.

I can’t comment on the après-parkrun, my taxing itinerary forced me to rush off soon after I finished.
